Secretary and Treasurer

My role has evolved since I began working with the UK Shaolin Temple in 2009. I began by conducting general administration and secterial duties when the organisation was at pre-charity status. This was buffered by assisting at all major UKST events and classes. As the organisation moved passed its Charity registration and became what it is today, my role has been refined to general secretary as well as one of a number of project managers. I particularly oversee funding and membership projects. My professional specialty is project design and administration processes. I thoroughly enjoy working with UK Shaolin Temple as it is a people led organisation who share a passion for Shaolin culture and the community spirit it fosters. I am particularly inspired by our members and the extent to which they can embrace different cultures and share in new ideas. One pleasure of my role is encountering a variety people through my work and also networking with other organisations within the arts/culture/heritage sector.

Outside of UK Shaolin Temple I work full time for the Student Services department of Southampton Solent University. My role enables students access specific academic support services which helps them to achieve their academic potential. I particular enjoy the varied people I encounter and sharing in their experiences of Higher Education. Aside from this I am also a part time post graduate research student at the University of Winchester currently developing my doctorate thesis on the subject of Japanese vernacular religion in popular culture. I particularly enjoy disseminating my research with other students and academics and aim to build a career in Higher Education Academia.
